These TITANIUM CHOPSTICKS are my attempt to bring a new and high tech material into an ancient implement. I have always been enamored with ancient culture and tradition, especially that of Japan and China. In addition I am intrigued by state of the art materials and emerging industrial manufacturing techniques. Throughout my years as an artist and metalworker I have always looked for ways to bring new, modern materials and designs into very traditional items such as jewelry, knives, art, and utensils.

I built the first set of titanium chopsticks for myself in early 2003 and have used them ever since. I had an idea to make these metal chopsticks in a sleek modern style, instead of a textured tactical style that others were making them in. Upon surfing the internet one day, I found a post on a major technical forum about someone wanting to make themselves a set of titanium chopsticks. As always, I was offering my help with machining techniques and such to try to help this person on his way to being a metalworker, and posted a picture of the titanium chopsticks I had made for myself a few years back. At that point the internet worked it's magic and my inbox was flooded by people wanting these ancient implements in this modern metal. This was the beginning of my love affair with becoming a chopstick maker as well as a knife maker and decorative metalworker.
