Question :What do they weigh? The
sets average 2.0 ounces, which is heavier than wooden chopsticks at
about .25 ounces per set. Yet they are significantly lighter than
regular flatware. You will find that they are well balanced and will be
even easier to use that the wooden chopsticks due to having weight that
you can feel. Question :Will they slide out of my hand while using them? Titanium
chopsticks excel in design. These are designed with grooves right where
they sit in your grip so that they do not slide. Also the balance is
better than with wooden chopsticks, giving you more control of the tips
due to a higher weight behind the grip. Question :Will the color fade? With
any anodized product, anodizing can be abraded off. With titanium the
colorization is actually clear. Think of oil on water, how it reflects
a rainbow of colors, that is just like titanium annodization. There are
no dyes and sealers like in aluminum colorization to fade with UV
exposure or chemical cleaning. And with normal wear, the titanium
annodization should last for decades or even generations. With anything
anodized you just want to keep abrasion to a minimum, do not use coarse
cleansers, scrub sponges or the like on the finish. Soap, water and
normal cleaning chemicals will not harm the finish. Question :Will a dishwasher affect the metal? No,
a dishwasher is a perfectly accepted and safe way to clean your
chopsticks. Although the use of heavy soaps will slightly alter their
coloration due to a film being left behind, there is no harm and
actually the heat generated from the dishwasher will be a great way to
sanitize your chopsticks. Question :Will they break easily? Definitely
NOT! These chopsticks are made from alloys common to the aerospace
industry, alloys known for a great weight to strength ratio. These are
very resilient materials built in a way to yield years of use. Now if
you decide to hammer them through a sheet of plywood or something you
may be able to damage them. But with normal and responsible use, they
will survive! Question :What kind of warranty comes with the chopsticks? If
you find that one (or both) of your chopsticks are defective, I will
exchange them or return your money no questions asked. I build a
quality over-engineered product that I stand behind. With the
exceptions of abuse or minor coloration blemishes, I have never had a
set returned. Also coloration can be re-annodized at any time, so if
you scratch them up after years of use, and you want them refinished,
just contact me and I will make arrangements to get that done for you! Question :Will they rust over a period of time? NO!
Titanium is considered a reactive metal. That’s how I get the
coloration on them! Titanium creates a hard, clear, and almost inert
coating naturally, protecting it from corrosion and reaction to most
chemicals and environments. They will NOT rust. Question :Is titanium harmful as an utensil for food? No,
titanium is used widely as a surgical implant for joints or hardware in
the medical industry. They use titanium for the traits it has. It does
not react with much. Most acids, chemicals, etc. will have little
effect on titanium. Neither will your body. Question :Can I order chopsticks with a different pattern? Yes,
out of every batch I make a few sets in different groove patterns. They
are slightly higher in price due to there not being an assembly line
type setup in their production. These original sets will be very
limited. Question :how long does it take to have a set shipped to me? That
depends, I make these in batches. So there may be a time where we are
out of stock on everything and a new batch is in the midst of
production. If they are in stock, it shouldn’t take more than a couple
of days to ship your product. If your product is out of stock, you will
be contacted and informed of the delay in shipping. Question :What are the advantages/disadvantages to titanium chopsticks as opposed to wooden or other types of materials? There
are several advantages over wooden chopsticks. Balance would be one,
the titanium balances much better than the wood due to the weight being
shifted back due to the taper. Another advantage is flavor, if you are
a sushi connoisseur especially, the acids and flavors of the sushi do
not react with the titanium (as steel can) so you taste nothing but the
food, titanium has NO flavor because it does not react to the acids in
your mouth or the substances on the food. There are also advantages
over lacquer chopsticks for ease of use. Lacquer is lighter but very
slick and harder to use. The titanium have textured tips and are much
easier to use than lacquer. The only disadvantage I can think of is
family and friends. Once they see yours, they will borrow them, and you
will have to get another set. Question :Is there any amount that I can buy that will lower the prices, as in some sort of large quantity discount for businesses? Yes,
we do offer a discount to resellers. Dealers need to contact us
directly for resale pricing structures, retail pricing, and
availability. Question :Do you ship internationally? Though
based in the United States, we will ship anywhere! Although, there may
be a higher charge for the product being shipped overseas. Payment
types are limited with oversea locations. Question :How many different colors do the chopsticks come in? at
the moment I work off a color pallet of about 30 different colors. You
must know that RED and BLACK are not available colors in the titanium
annodization scale. The annodization coating is not a dye or paint, but
a clear coating that reflects a certain color spectrum. The coating
cannot be made to absorb all light (black). Nor will the coating
reflect a high enough wavelength to reflect a true red. Question :Can I get multicolored? Does that add to the price? Currently
I offer rainbow, as a color option. It is a natural color progression
that I can get with the titanium and it is very striking, but cannot be
controlled to get specific colors in the spectrum (example if you
wanted green to fade to blue only). I can also custom color them with
certain colors in the grooves and others on the sides to match what you
would like as well as designs such as dots, swirls, stripes, plaid,
cross hatching, tye dye and holographic but such custom creations would
be at a slightly higher price. I would have to be contacted to see if
the color combination you would like is possible. Question :Can I get them engraved with a saying or some ones name? At
this time I do not have a clean precise way of doing that. I have
blasted text, and tried some other options of doing this and with the
radius of the shank, and the size of the overall lettering it does not
look very good on such a clean well made product. I am always looking
for new methods so this is something that could change in the future. Question :Do you sell other things related to these chopsticks? Occasionally
I will have other accessories that I or others make that compliment
these chopsticks. I am currently having ballistic nylon cases made to
add to my inventory as well as occasionally I will have matching
titanium chopstick stands or display boxes available. Just check back
on the site and new items should be listed as they become available! Question :How long have you been doing this work? What other metal work do you do? I
have been into metal work for as long as I can remember. I started out
making jewelry and decorative work, and moved on to custom knifemakeing
and machine work. I love exotic alloys and materials, and love making
something traditional in a new and modern way. Question :Is this enough questions? There
are never too many questions… Any time you need anything answered, just
email. I will answer. If the question is valid and is asked by a few
different people I will post it so others may gain knowledge from your
questions. Question :Are these chopsticks solid or hollow? The
chopsticks that are readily available are solid! They are machined out
of solid titanium bar, not forged or cast. They are machined that way
for strength and a good finish. Question :Do these chopsticks collapse? If they do not do you plan on making any that do? No
these chopsticks are made of solid titanium alloy! I have experimented
with making sets that break down or collapse for carrying, but have not
found a good may to make a solid dependable ALL TITANIUM chopstick that
will collapse. My first responsibility is to my customers, so I will
not release a product I feel in inferior or not up to the quality I
pursue. Question :Do these chopsticks come with a case or something to carry them in? No,
but you will find chopstick cases as well as other matching accessories
for sale individually on the website as they become available. Question :What is the darker color at the tips of the chopsticks? That
is a texture that is blasted on to the tips of the chopsticks to make
it easier to eat with. I found that especially with inexperienced
chopstick users, that a smooth metal surface was very different
compared to the wood they were used to eating with. So I blasted the
tips to give them a little bit of texture so they perform better, but
not so coarse as to be abrasive. Question :How long are they? The chopsticks are 9 and 3/8ths inches long. Question :Can I get chopsticks without the texture at the tips or with a sharper point? Yes, contact me via email and I can make what you want! |
